This is a full-time professional, live-in position primarily responsible for the development, management, and supervision of a designated housing area. The coordinator will report directly to the Senior Residence Life Manager.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from a college or university holding a bachelors degree in any field 

  • Experience in residence life as a resident assistant, residence life staff member or the equivalent

  • Masters degree in Student Personnel: Higher Education or the equivalent preferred

  • Considerable knowledge of university housing policies and procedures

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Administers and supervises the total operation of the designated housing area

  • Lives on campus in the housing area of supervision

  • Participates in the selection, training, and staff development of Resident Assistants

  • Plans and implements special programming and initiatives for residents

  • Supervises and evaluates the Resident Assistants in the assigned housing area

  • Serves on committees related to the total operation of the university as assigned

  • Participates in a professional and graduate staff duty rotation overseeing 1100 students in 21 different buildings while serving as the university's first line of response after the resident assistant and provides feedback/ suggestions to resident assistants when needed

  • Conducts weekly staff meetings with Resident Assistants

  • Trains staff and residents in assessment, programming and effective communication/ counseling skills

  • Interprets Residence Life rules and regulations, provides support to the Residence Life Staff with enforcement of rules and regulations, and makes recommendations on changes and modifications in the rules and regulations

  • Handles and evaluates disciplinary cases that occur in the designated housing area, making decisions and referrals as needed
