Summer Residence Life Positions       

Columbus State Residence Life Department is looking for dynamic individuals to fill in the positions of Summer Resident Assistant, Summer Staff, and Summer Student Assistant at both Main Campus and RiverPark Campus.

Under the direction of Residence Life Coordinator, Summer RAs are responsible for fostering personal and social growth of the students, providing information, advising, overseeing discipline and social activities to facilitate a welcoming and safe environment within the housing areas and campus. The eligibility and responsibilities for being a summer RA are as follows:

Qualifications

  • Must be a current RA

  • Must be enrolled in summer classes

  • Have a GPA of 2.5 or higher

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist and be available during check-in and check-outs during May and June sessions

  • Abide by and enforce residence life policies

  • Participate in on-call duty night rotation for emergencies and lockouts. Typically, RAs will be on call each night from 6pm-8am on weekdays and 24/7 on weekends

  • Plan and facilitate activities and programs to promote community and wellness of summer residents in compliance to LIVE programming model

  • Attend weekly staff meetings and one-on-one meetings with the Residence Life Coordinator

  • Responsible for administrative paperwork including: health and safety inspections, program proposal and evaluations, duty logs, overnight guest registration, lockout log, check-in and check-out forms, etc.

  • Work 5 hours per week at the front desk of designated housing area

  • Actively support Residence Life during orientation

  • Other duties as assigned

Compensation

  • Housing waiver for whole summer

  • Biweekly pay check of 10 hours (5 hours per week)

 

Summer Conference Assistant              Work Apply Now Icon

Under the direction of Assistant Director of Residence Life, Summer Conference Assistants are responsible for assisting at various tasks related to summer camps, orientation, and other Residence Life events at both Main and RiverPark Campus starting May 9th until August 10th . The eligibility and responsibilities for being a summer staff are as follows:

Qualifications

  • Must be enrolled in summer classes

  • Be available from May 9 - August 10 with minimum obligations other than academics

  • Excellent customer service skills

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Serve as a role model, a resource, communicate, and consistently enforce camp and housing policies

  • Conduct inspection of the rooms prior to the arrival of the camp to ensure cleanliness

  • Assist in check-in and check-out of the summer camps

  • Be on rotation duty of being “on call” during camps and assist as needed

  • Assist in light maintenance tasks if needed

  • Participate in weekly staff meetings

  • Assist Residence Life during orientation

  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Director of Residence Life

Compensation

  • Housing waiver for whole summer

  • Bi-weekly pay (5 hours per week minimum)

Under the direction of Residence Life professional staff, the student assistants help in a lot of administrative and customer service related tasks in Residence Life Office.

Qualifications

  • A GPA of 2.5 or above

  • An honest desire to be of service to your fellow residents and to support Residence Life policies

  • Willingness to operate as a "Team" member

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist in answering the phones and providing exceptional customer service for the Residence Life Office

  • Know and implement all Residence Life policies and procedures

  • Utilize Residence Life computer programs

  • Assist with resident needs, such as lockouts, lost/stolen items, questions, etc.

  • Assist with office related duties including taking payments and utilizing office equipment

  • Assist in giving tours to prospective students and families

  • Assist with the check-in/check-out process

  • Assist with recording, filing away, and distributing mail (RiverPark)

  • Other duties as assigned
